Today we tried a breakfast buffet at Sizzling Grill. It was ok for the price. Then Laurie drove us to Epcot. Going down the main street, Laurie was embarrassed. Also both she & Alan couldn’t stop laughing. I decided to use my lilac colored parasol. Some Disney women, one driving a car & the other with a mike, spied me. They asked me to model for them.
Our first stop was to Spaceship Earth-Communicating through the Ages. I found it interesting. “Board your vehicle & witness milestones in communications vital to man’s survival—from Cro-Magnon cave paintings to electronic communications.”
Next we entered Universe of Energy. It’s an exploration of the forces that fuel our lives & the universe itself. This included Ellen’s Energy Adventure. “Ride with Ellen DeGeneres as she goes back to the dinosaur era.” I’ve seen this before but enjoyed it once again. Bill Nye – the science guy joined her in this.
Next we went to see Journey into Imagination With Figment. This was not a good choice. The ride kept breaking down. What should have taken less than 5 minutes took about 20. Part of the time it was moving, we were in bright electric light. It lost a lot of the make believe, etc. that the rides are known for. We could see the tracks the ride runs on in front of us. Also machinery, etc. that was not for the public’s eyes, etc. Finally, we were moved to an exit & everyone was told to leave. It wasn’t a total loss, at least for me. I was able to see the behind-the-scenes workings that I wouldn’t have been able to see any other way.
Honey, I Shrunk the Audience which was another 3D film filled with cute antics, sprayed water, etc. & etc. Also a chance to relax in a/c.
We had delicious meals at the Coral Reef Restaurant. One wall was covered from floor to ceiling in glass. Behind it was the aquarium that continued up a couple of floors. It’s both relaxing and thrilling to watch the fish swim around. There was a giant turtle as well as all kinds of fish both large & small. It was worth the price of the meal. The glasses of water were on coasters with the name of the restaurant, etc. on it. I asked if I could take it home. The waitress said of course. Laurie just shook her head from side to side.
We tried to get on The Living Seas ride but there was a wait of 50 minutes. Instead, we walked about the observation deck looking at the fish that way.
The Land Ride was very informative, esp. riding through greenhouses. They were full of amazing fruits & vegetables, all grown without soil. Alan grows stuff that way also. He said it’s called hydroponics. We also went through a fish & alligator farm.
We walked quite a ways to the Mexico boat ride. It was very humid & hot. I needed to stop many times to breathe. I figured it was my heart. Laurie thinks I might have asthma. Anyway, we finally got there. It was a pleasure to find ourselves once again in a/c. The place was filled with a restaurant & authentic shops of Mexico.
I saw dresses, blouses & skirts I would have liked to buy. My purse would not cover the expenditure. We sailed the “River of Time” on a slow-moving boat ride. I know L&A were humoring me, as they prefer more adventurous rides. That was so kind & considerate of them.
I looked into one of the shops of Norway & saw a beautiful sweater. Unfortunately, the price was over $300.00! I did NOT buy it. We took a boat ride back to the era of the Vikings followed by a 5-minute post-ride film.
We decided to leave & go to Publix for a few fixings. That way we could rest during diner as we did yesterday. I stopped them too many times to rest because of the breathing problem. We had quite a ways to get to the entrance & the car.
Laurie told Alan & me to wait for her & she went into a first aide station. A bit later, she came out pushing a wheelchair. She told the people that her mother was having difficulty & could she borrow it. They told her it wouldn’t cost anything & to leave it by the car. I felt foolish sitting in it but it sure got us to the parking lot in record time. In fact, Alan walked so fast; Laurie thought she was getting blisters on her feet.
