Today I am 75 years young! It was certainly a day to remember. Laurie had to see a doctor. Then she showed up with Alan. He fixed some things for me & she cleaned. A first – I never got around to deciding where I’d go to celebrate. So instead, I decided to just leisurely shop the stores. Something I rarely get to do. After all, today is a day to indulge myself.
First I stopped at Sam’s to pick up some things I need. There was an excellent sale of polos going on. I bought 2 for myself, & one each for Laurie & Alan. At the $ store, I picked up a few items.
By this time it was time for my lunch. I went to the Marble Slab, which I don’t frequent any more. A cone costs about the same as a half-gallon at the supermarket. Also it isn’t the best thing to eat for someone watching his or her weight. Of course, I seem to be only watching it go up! I had my usual – cappuccino with chocolate bits in it. For about 15 minutes, I sat reading while having my tasty lunch.
As usual, Stein Mart sent me a 20% off coupon on the other side of a birthday postcard. I walked around forever but found nothing worth buying. When I finally got back to my villa, Laurie said George is stuck at band practice. He didn’t get here till after 5. I changed my clothes & we left for Bonefish Restaurant around 5:30.
We got a table that was set for 5 although we were only 4. A few minutes later Carey walked in. It’s a repeat of other times he’s shown up to surprise me. I never weary of them. It was good to see him & he looked very well. He barely has a scar from his neck operation. As usual the food was excellent as well as the service & atmosphere. Of course, having at least 2 of my children & at least one grandchild with me made the dinner even more enjoyable.
A cake with a candle & ice cream was provided. They sang happy birthday to me. Laurie told me a while back that she was taking me here for my birthday but that Carey wouldn’t be able to make it. I already knew that Debbie wasn’t coming.
At home, Laurie pulled out an ice cream cake from my freezer. We all sat around my dining room table & celebrated once again. I served diet white grape soda with it. Or I should say Laurie did. She wouldn’t let me do a thing.
